Discraft Plastic Guide
Plastic lines and characteristics
Discraft’s plastic lineup ranges from grippy baseline blends to ultra‑durable premium plastics. Pro D and X plastics are affordable with excellent grip but wear faster; X offers slightly more durability and a chalky feel for better wet‑weather grip. Jawbreaker plastic blends rubbery polymers for outstanding grip and a “candy” appearance; the softer material is favored for putters and approaches. Z plastic is Discraft’s most durable translucent blend; discs in Z plastic are stiff and slightly more stable, making them ideal for drivers and long‑term consistency. ESP (Elite Special Plastic) combines high durability with a tackier feel—grippier than Z plastic but still more durable than X plastic. ESP FLX adds flexibility by incorporating softening agents; the discs can be bent and regain shape, providing better grip in cold or wet conditions. Titanium (Ti) plastic is super‑durable with metallic swirls; players note that it adds stability compared with other blends. Big Z is similar to Z but with solid colors and often thicker flight plates; it shares Z’s durability but offers unique stamp designs. Z FLX uses the durable Z base with more flex for all‑weather grip. Z Lite is a lightweight variant of Z plastic using micro‑bubbles to reduce weight. Discraft also produces Glo versions of its plastics (e.g., ESP Glo, Z Glo) which glow in the dark; the glow additives may make the plastic slightly more stable.
